About Brace for Impact 46
Former Major League Baseball Pitcher and World Series Champion, Kyle McClellan, had the idea of Brace for Impact 46 after he and his wife, Bridget, took a life-changing mission trip to Haiti.
"As a professional ballplayer, I've had the opportunity to meet some truly incredible people who have factored heavily in my success and helped to shape my character, both on and off the field. They have had a significant impact on my life.
I want to demonstrate how giving back can enrich your life every bit as much as those you serve. It was in this spirit that my wife and I joined Adam Wainwright and his wife Jenny on a mission trip to Haiti where the idea of Brace For Impact 46 was born. Through Brace For Impact 46, it's my goal to be able to have an impact on the lives of others," says McClellan.
Why the name "Brace for Impact 46?" Kyle and Bridget went on their mission trip with the notion that they would help those in need. What they were not prepared for was the impact it would have on their lives.
"If you want to step out and serve someone in need without expecting anything in return, you better be BRACED for the IMPACT that it will have on your life as well. Seek, step, serve is our motto because we can all make an impact if we open our eyes and step out of our comfort zones."
Kyle and Bridget visit Haiti multiple times per year, taking supports along for most trips. They serve IDADEE and the community by asking what their immediate needs are. Sustainabliity and supporting the local economy is very important to our mission, so the trips do not involve labor that can be done by a local needing a job or supplying with items that can be found at the market. It is crucial to elevate the people of the community and not come in with American-minded solutions.
Brace for Impact 46 has a mission of enhancing the lives of all people, including children, with the potential to live healthy and productive lives. It provides sustainable benefits to people in need regardless of race or religion.
Brace for Impact 46 was founded by Kyle and Bridget McClellan in 2014. Together through partnerships, they support the IDADEE Children's Home in Haiti along with sustaining community development in the area.
In their hometown of St. Louis, MO, they strive to partner with local corporations to develop community through youth in the inner city.
